Editorial Intern - Players Publishing - England

Wed, 05/08/2013 - 13:22

Gambling Insider, a leading trade magazine for the global gambling industry (covering sports-betting, poker, casino and more), is seeking a new Editorial Intern to assist the editorial team at its offices in Shoreditch, London.

The successful applicant will have already completed a journalism qualification and will demonstrate their ability by sending an example of their work in response to this advert, along with an up-to-date CV.

We are initially looking for someone to work around 3 days a week and who is able to stay for at least a month, but longer if they are finding the experience beneficial and want to stay on. We will be flexible to accommodate any external job interviews you arrange during your time with us.

Your duties will include writing and researching articles for the print magazine, writing news stories for our consumer website (gamblingonlinemagazine.com), interviewing, sourcing great images to go alongside your work, proof-reading, perhaps even some sub-editing. You will not be lumbered with all the usual 'workie' tasks like making tea five times a day or piles of tedious admin. You will get bylines for everything you write.

THIS IS AN UNPAID POSITION. However, we will cover travel expenses up to £50 a week, so this position will probably be best suited to somebody in the Greater London area.

We boast an impressive track record among our previous interns, with a 100% record of interns leaving directly to take up paid work within the media. Our staff writer is also a former Gambling Insider intern. So this could be an ideal way to kick-start your career.

Knowledge of the gambling industry and an interest in writing for B2B magazines would be a distinct advantage, but at the very least we would expect the successful applicant to have an interest in one or more of the subjects we cover: sports-betting, poker, casino games, social games, etc.

You must be a stickler for accuracy and take pride in producing work to a high standard. You will be competent in both news writing and feature writing.

How to apply:

Please send your CV and an example of your work ASAP as we are keen to arrange a start date of late May or early June.

PLEASE NOTE: We will NOT consider your application unless you attach BOTH of the requested items – your CV and example of work.
