Assistant editor - Revo Media - England

Thu, 03/07/2013 - 01:00

Lux is the UK lighting industry’s leading monthly magazine, and we’re looking for an Assistant Editor.

In just two years, Lux has established a strong presence with its high quality content and distinctive voice. This is your opportunity to join an award-winning and market-leading media team.

We’re looking for an ambitious and motivated team player with strong news gathering and reporting skills. You’ll have a demonstrable ability to build relationships with key industry contacts and break exclusive stories. This job would suit someone with experience on a B2B magazine, newspaper or a talented first-jobber.

We’re looking for a sharp writer who can scan a press release and pick out the gold from the guff, quickly bash out a compelling news story without wasting a word, or turn a pile of facts, quotes and ideas into an incisive feature. We don’t expect a lighting expert, but we do need someone who can understand technology and business, and get their head round new topics quickly. You'll also need to be confident using Photoshop and InDesign.

Duties will include interviewing, writing, subbing, tweeting, video recording and editing for news and features. You will work across all channels including the magazine, the website, the email newsletter and social media as well as assisting at various events.

You might be interviewing the CEO of a multimillion-pound lighting company on Monday, visiting a newly relit landmark on Tuesday, quizzing a minister on green policy on Wednesday, watching cutting-edge LED products being manufactured on Thursday and meeting the lighting boss at a major high street retailer on Friday.

We're a small, entrepreneurial business so you’ll have a chance to get involved in all aspects of the magazine production process, and you'll be expected to roll your sleeves up to keep things running.

The job is based in south London and will involve some travel.

How to apply:

Please send a CV, cover letter and examples of your written work to Robert Bain at robert.bain@luxmagazine.co.uk by Wednesday 3 April 2013.
