If you are going to get the most out of Twitter as a journalistic tool, you need to take your engagement with it to the next level, ensuring every aspect of your use of Twitter is as professional, useful and effective as it can be.

There are all sorts of tools and apps that can help you, in one way or another, to do that.

Most of them are good for one thing - promoting your Twitter profile on your website, say - or for knowing exactly when to tweet for maximum engagement with your community.

Others let you manage your Twitter followers - to see who is following you, who has stopped, who retweets you the most.

We're going to look at a range of those tools here

You may not find all of them useful. Some of them I love, other's I'm not so sure about. 

But all are worth checking out.

I can guarantee that several of them will become part of your daily routine, and will really help you use Twitter well.
